A big day for ICOS Switzerland: The ICOS General Assembly officially confirmed the station labelling of the Basel station as ICOS Ecosystem station! Basel was among eight stations which received the ICOS label on 6 November 2024.
Basel station (264 m a.s.l.) is an urban station located in the city center of Basel and has one of the longest urban CO2 flux records worldwide (permanently operated since 2004). It officially started the labelling process in January 2024 and Christian Feigenwinter (Station PI, University of Basel) has closely followed the guidelines provided by the ICOS Ecosystem Thematic Centre (ETC) since then, to finally become an ICOS Associated Ecosystem Station. A big thank you to Christian and the team in Basel. We are extremely happy about our third official ICOS station in the ICOS-CH network.
