Training Course on Greenhouse Gas Measurements_2024_Indonesia

Martin Steinbacher (ICOS Station PI for Jungfraujoch) and Christoph Zellweger (Empa) were the principal teachers at the blended Hands-on Training Course on Greenhouse Gas Measurements that was completed with its in-person phase from 30 September to 4 October at the Bukit Koto Tabang Global Atmosphere Watch station in West Sumatra, Indonesia. The training, attended by 28 persons from 14 countries from the Asia and South-West Pacific regions, followed the online phase from 25 June to 11 July with 89 participants. The course mainly focused on in-situ greenhouse gas observations, measurement techniques, maintenance, operation, quality control, troubleshooting, and data processing. The event provided a perfect opportunity to share the ample experience gathered during the long-term atmospheric monitoring efforts in Switzerland and within the ICOS network with operators in currently largely undersampled regions. The training was jointly organized by the Indonesian weather service (BMKG) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
