On 3 September 2024, the ICOS-CH Annual Meeting passed successfully. This time, we were hosted by the University of Bern. The agenda of the full-day meeting was a mix of updates from ICOS-CH, ICOS RI and ICOS Communications as well as scientific presentations covering both the Atmosphere and the Ecosystem domain. Moreover, we received updates from our three stations: Jungfraujoch (ICOS Class 1 Atmosphere station), Davos (ICOS Class 1 Ecosystem station) and Basel (Candidate Associated Ecosystem Station). Finally, we discussed on very topical issues such as how to do impact assessment for ICOS-CH or how to correctly cite ICOS data and acknowledge funding agencies. This year, lots of new faces joined the ICOS-CH consortium and it was the chance to get to know each other during coffee and lunch breaks. Difficult without name tags! (This will be on the list for next year...)
But it was also the moment to say goodbye to one of our PIs who was with ICOS-CH from the very beginning: Prof. Markus Leuenberger (University of Bern, Director of the Jungfraujoch station) will retire by the end of the year. We thank him for everything he did for ICOS-CH and the Jungfraujoch station and wish him all the best for the future! His successor, Prof. Eliza Harris, joined the meeting on her second working day at University of Bern and we are very much looking forward to future collaboration within ICOS-CH.
A big thank you to the local meeting organization by Markus Leuenberger. After an inspiring day in Bern, we are already looking forward to the ICOS-CH Annual 2025 to take place at WSL in Birmensdorf.
